What is the name of your state?California
My son played in a league in which a board member was stealing money. Approximately $20,000-$50,000. When the board after 5 years realized this, they chose not to contact the authorities, but investigate it themselves. He immediately moved to another state. This year the league got in trouble for advertising themselves as a non-profit (which they weren't) and using a tax I.D. number claiming it was for a non-profit (which it wasn't). The state of California investigated their books and they are on probation for two years before they can re-apply for non-profit status because of at least one board member stealing money. Can the board members be held responsible for the missing money since they chose not to contact the authorities. Can the parents of the league sue the board? Should we maybe contact the district attorney?Any help would be appreciated as we have a group of 400 mad parents!!! And the league has been very misleading with it's information.
