What is the name of your state?TN

I am 70 years old and on Social Security. I moved to TN from FL two years ago after my husband passed away. The Discover card belonged to both of us, but after losing his Social Security, I was no longer able to pay.

I am now being sued by Discover. I own a house with another person who is not a relative. We have about 40K in equity due to increased housing prices in this area; however, I can't borrow against it because of the Discover card information on my credit report.

My big question is can Discover get a judgement against the house even though I only own 50% of it? I know my personal property and car are protected by TN law, and since I'm on Social Security, they can't garnish my wages. Besides seizing money from my bank account, is there anything else they can do?

Thanks.

Standard answer on expired SOL and/or validation and/or dispute letters. There are thousands of posts similar to yours on this forum so I have prepared a standard answer.

SOL

Validation letter samples you can get at :
www.creditinfocenter.com
and www.creditboards.com

Disputes: You can write a letter of dispute to the three credit reporting agencies.

Go this website to find instructions and samples for how to dispute: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/creditreports/

Sometimes errors are easy to remove and sometimes they stick like glue. It is inexpensive to try and not difficult.
