My mother was sued for a credit card debt back in 1999... her wages were garnished, but only for 13 weeks. (the amount of time required by law.) No extensions was asked and she hasn't heard anything about the issue until now. She received a Small Claims Notice saying she is being sued for the same bill even though it's been over 5 years and now the case number has changed and the address of the creditor has changed as well.
Can this happen? Can someone be sued for the same thing twice?
Any help with this will be greatly appriciated.
