What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina

My boyfriend and I found out we were pg and when i was about 2 months along, he left me and the state. I tried to find him when i had my daughter but he changed his phone number. So my question is, if he did not sign the bc, and doesn't want anything to do with her, does he have any rights and now that she is 6 months old and he has done absolutely nothing to help or even try to see his daughter. My fiance wants to adopt her but doesn't know exactly what the process would be considering we can't find the biofather.

You need to be married for a certain period of time before your husband can adopt the child. And you will still have to show due diligence in trying to establish paternity. You don't get to pretend Dad fell off the face of the earth.

Hiring a lawyer now would be pointless. Get married, STAY married for a couple of years, THEN talk to a lawyer.
