What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania

I was just informed I may be the father of a 23 year old woman. I never knew anything about this, and the mother has long been married, and her husband adopted the girl when she was approximately 6 years old. What are my financial obligations if any at this point? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

You have no obligations to this person. You are not her legal father.

Did the mom ever pursue a child support order against you? Prior to the adoption had you been named the legal father? Was paternity ever established--even by default?

If yes, then you may owe arrears....

In no, then you have no obligation.

If paternity was never legally established, you were never her father. She has a legal father, who cannot use bioparentage to DISESTABLISH paternity. So legal paternity stands.
