my birth daughter died in 1996. the
adoptive parents do not want to let
me know where she is burried. they
went thru the agency where she was
placed to let me know. they let me
know all about her life, her first
name (jacquline) i named her crystal
at birth which they changed. but refuses
to let me know where she is burried at.
jacquline would of been 21 years old,
this november 19. is there any laws that
make them let me as the birth mom know
any information that i need? i am just
about at my wits end. she has been gone
since febuary 2 1996, i just now recieved
the information this year that she had
died. i thought if i waited till she
would of been 21 they would have to give
me some kind of information. please let me
know if there is any grounds for the
information to be relesed to me.
desperatly needing to know.

My response:

Sorry. You are not the parent and have no "legal standing" to find out. Her parents do not have to cooperate with you and, unfortunately, a court will not force them to cooperate.

Under the law of adoption, you are considered a "stranger" and as such, you have no right to the information.

i am so sorry to hear of your dilemma but i do think that since your birthdaughter has been adopted by someone that you have no legal right whatsoever to any information concerning her. i am not a lawyer i am just stating from experience that i have had with other people.

GOD BLESS YOU
