What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NJ
I live in NJ. I have been writing to the Board for 3 years (the last year all letters are certified) about needed repairs they are responsible, such as my leaking roof, damage due to the leak, a bush they trimmed 2 summers ago and ever since does not bear leaves where they cut it down to bare branches.) They do not even bother to answer my letters. What are my options? Is this something I can turn over to the County Prosecutor (I know this does not translate into my getting anything out of it but possible the replacement of Board Members). BTW: our Association has become so apathetic that no one even runs for election. One unethical board member just appoints one of their friends, who is also unethical.

roof repairs its a civil matter, your going to have to hire a atty and go after them , If the board is lousy then your free to run for a seat on it.

Agreed.....
Most people who are Board Directors first became interested because they were unsatisfied with the way their community and/or HOA was being governed. There are always plenty of fault finders and complainers, but very few people want to step up to the plate and volunteer their time and efforts. Kudos to those that do! A HOA community is only as good as the homeowners themselves want it to be ! What they are willing to put into it is what they will get out of it.
