Anyone else seem to have a problem getting estimates from body shops to use a court?

All the body shops here give me a price but dont' seem to want to spend the time and write one up on paper to give to me.

I even had one ask me sign it at the bottom where it stated that I agree to come to them for repairs within 90 days - I laughed and left..

Another one said he cannot do it "for court" and it has to be the party who is paying..

Anyone else have these problems?

And a question to those who know, IAAL , JetX, homeguru? - would one insurance estimate (they only listed what they saw which was not everything, only 2000 dollars) and one body shop estimate (pretty much complete, 3000 dollars) be enough for court? I am having a really hard time getting, and the insurance one isn't complete...

Thanks

body shops are providing you a service and nobody works for free. i owned a body shop years ago and the usual m.o. was to spend up to an hour on an estimate and then never see that person again. i started charging $20 an estimate with a credit if they bring the car in for repairs. why not offer to pay for it ?

the estimates you received for 2k and 3k are still open for more damages when the shop tears it down, keep that in mind since the insurance company wants to settle for a fixed amount. And depending on the year, the ins company would estimate with used parts , even if its a late model vehicle, look out for "LKQ" parts on the estimate!! Like, Kind and Quality...
