It is not illegal for the bosses son to receive preferential treatment. You would have to prove you're being treated differently because you're a woman, not just that you happen to be a woman and are treated differently. Considering "the black guy" is also treated the same was as you does not give much credibility to your theory that you're being discriminated against because you're a woman.

Again, not illegal for employees to be treated different. There is no law that says all the rules need to apply to all the employees. If you can show you've been harassed, paid less, or denied promotion because you're a woman then you can file an EEOC complaint. The fact that other employees are allowed to use cell phones and you're not is not illegal. It sounds like it's not a very good fit for you in terms of the environment.

I'm a Northern Girl
Then Title VII, which is the primary law against discrimination in this country, does not apply.

So in other words, you have little to no protection against discrimination based on your gender or race and neither does "the black guy".

The “black guy” would have protection from race-based employment discrimination under the Civil Rights Act of 1866 (“Section 1981) irrespective of the employer having fewer than 15 workers.

The three key words in your post are, "the boss's son." It is perfecty legal for the boss to exempt his loser son from the same rules and requirements everyone else is subject to. Same goes for paying him more than anyone else and paying for his absence time.

The situation is unfair but it's not illegal. (This is also not uncommon in privately owned companies.)
