What is the name of your state? GA

Woke up this morning and one of our cars had been robbed.

someone stole the wheels off one side of the car and put the car on blocks. they did not touch the other side because it is visible from the road.

we got the police involved and filed a police report.

we now want to move. when we consulted the leasing office, all she said is that this has never happened before and they have considered having surveillance in the complex.

we are not a gated community and do not have on property security.

she says the only way to get out of the lease is give a 30day notice and pay one month's rent as fees, as well as forfeit deposit.

is this the only way out?

do we really have to be held liable for the fees yet we are the victims of this theft.

Who's Liable?

Senior Member
yes, you are still legally liable for it. It is NOT the managements responsibility to make sure you are moving to a safe(r) neighborhood. Police departments often provide a crime analysis for all areas of the City free to the public. If you were really that concerend about it, you would have asked for a report.

Make sure you get everything in writing from the management, and have them sign off on any future action against you.
