I sell at both Ebay and Amazon and each has a different policy for proof of delivery. Ebay requires non-signature delivery confirmation for items under $250. If $250 or more, then signature confirmation is required.
Amazon requires signature confirmation for all deliveries if there is a dispute. It appears the seller only used delivery confirmation. Also, since the item shows as being delivered, my experience with shippers is they won't cover an insurance claim, even if insurance was purchased. If the buyer files a dispute at Amazon, I expect the outcome would be the seller would have to reimburse the full selling price and shipping cost paid by the buyer, per Amazon policy.
