Do you have a real estate agent? If not, you should have some representation but it's best to be represented from the start when the purchase agreement is being negotiated. At closing, most documents are state specific and cannot be changed so it's argueable whether an attorney's presence would be necessary/beneficial. If you have not had any representation at all, at minimum I would advise having an attorney review all of the documents including the purchase agreement before closing. The problem you may run into by waiting until now to consier legal representation is that since the purchase agreement is already executed, there may be little remedy for errors and omissions.
