What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

We just received a so called breakdown of the bylaws. This was done by just one person.

In the original bylaws we received at closing we were told that we could not have fences.

At one of the meetings we went to it was voted that the whole community must vote on this issue of fences. However now according to what we received we suddenly can have fences. This is not fair to all the homeowners since at least half of the homes are located on ponds that have easements that others are allowed access to.

I had done some research in the past regarding changing bylaws that they have to petition the state(i think to change them). That it cost a fee.
Can one small group of people change the laws without a vote? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Do we as homeowners have the right to challenge this?

**A: your information is off. If this is a private HOA, the state has no jurisdiction on changing By-Laws.

**A: in your HOA docs, there is a procedure for changing By-Laws. You need to read it. That should answer your question.
