I am in california and i came from florida where my car is registered at my parent's home where i lived - i have been in california with my girlfriend helping her son and got a california DL not knowing that that means i am a resident - i would have kept my florida license knowing that - anyway, i was pulled over for a random check and they said that since i have a Ca DL, that i have to remove the tint from my front windows and get the car plated with california tags - i don't wish to go thru this expense because i am intending to return to florida in a few months, but i am stuck here due to financial difficulties right now. Any sugguestions on how to avoid having to go thru all this? what about people who have several homes in differnt states? Wouldn't that apply here? or is it all because i was stupid and got a california driver's lic.?

My response:

This should come as no surprise to you at all. When you applied for the CA license, you agreed to abide by, and follow, the rules and laws of this State. Ignorance of the law is no excuse - and tinting on the driver's side, and passenger side windows, is strictly "verboten" in California. Now, you need to remove it, and get CA plates and tags.

You should have kept your Floridian license; but, now your stuck - - in more ways than one.
