CA traffic violation while on probation

I was cited for first (& last) DUI last Dec. and convicted in Mar. I paid a fine, completed a 3 month DUI program and had a suspended license for 5 months during which time I did not drive. I got my unrestricted license back this August. I am under a 3 yr informal probation. A few days ago I was stopped by a police officer after making a left turn from a burger joint parking lot onto an empty street around 1AM. I did not see a posted sign for no left turns and was given a ticket for "failure to obey posted sign". I had not been drinking and the officer did not perform any alcohol tests. Will this be considered a violation of my probation? One of the conditions of the probation was "must obey all laws" and I remember in the DUI program they said you can violate your probation with such things as a speeding ticket or being in the vicinity of a fight.

COULD they violate your probation for that? Possibly. WILL they? Doubtful.

Unless you have a spate of poor driving, I doubt they will revoke your probation. However, depending on your record, this one point could put your license back over the top again and cause it to be suspended.

Thanks for your response. I have some followup questions. My DUI also involved an accident (no injury to any party), so as I understand it this would result in 3 points on the DL, 1 for accident and 2 for DUI. If so conviction for this recent moving violation would result in 4 points within 12 months, which would result in suspension? Is this correct? And can I keep the point off with traffic school? I don't know if I am eligible, but other than the DUI, I have had no other accidents or moving violations in the last 3 years. My last moving violation was a speeding ticket in 1999, I remember taking traffic school once before. Is the probation from the court seperate from, and not contingent on any adminstrative action from DMV?

Also, the officer did not ask for any proof of insurance, even though I am insured, and the space for insurance on the citation is completely blank. Will DMV assume I am had no insurance and take some admin action? Thanks.

I believe so.

Oddly enough, I believe you would be eligible to have traffic school for this violation. But, you may still be suspended prior to the completion of the traffic school.

They are seperate issues.

If you weren't charged, they shouldn't act on it.
