I would like to know if it is legal and/or constitutional for the state of California to take my legal and valid drivers licence from another state and give me in return a piece of paper that states: "not a verified identification"? I have been having major problems getting into 21 and over establishments, even though I am 26 years old. No bars in AZ would let me in on my Labor Day vacation. What can I do? They say my "real" ID will not be in for 4-6 weeks and the DMV refuses to give back my old drivers licence. Please help!!!!

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

I don't know how you managed to have your license confiscated --> probably for a traffic violation? Well, you see, if you live here, you have only a short time period to reregister your vehicle in the statw of california and get a new license, etc.

Go the department of motor vehicles and request your new license, if you haven't already done so. Also, if you are having problems getting into 21 and over establishments in cali with an arizona license, it is for one of three reasons: the bouncers are stupid; the bouncers don't know what an arizona license looks like; or it is a fake arizona one.
