What is the name of your state CA (only U.S. law)?

I understand the landlord must give list of where my deposit has gone but must he provide proof (receipts)? Also the 21 days is 21 days or 21 business days?

CA law requires the LL to provide an ITEMIZED list of deductions from the security deposit, complete with receipts/invoices for any expenses, along with any unused deposit within 21 calendar days following the tenant vacating the premises.

You can learn more about how California treats security deposits here: http://www.dca.ca.gov/publications/landlordbook/sec-deposit.shtml
