What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Hi, We are a military family and my daughter isnt my husband and we are looking to having him adopt her but since we are from michigan and before i got with my husband i was pregnant and on state aid.. Michigan opened up a child support case bc i was on state aid. We moved in 2010 and currently are living in California. Her bio-father hasnt seen her since 2010 because i never took her back because he wasnt paying child support He i guess now is just paying money to the state and i guess i get like $25 a week maybe from that but he supposed to pay like $100+ a month to me and i dont get any where near that.

Since we are military and my husband has been in my daughter life since she was 3 months old and her bio-father hasnt seen her in over a year and we go ahead with the california step-parent adoption, do you think we will have any problems getting approved for that?

Like i said her bio-father isnt paying child support hes only paying the state of michigan no me like hes supposed to and he wont consent to the adoption either hes actually going to try and fight of custody bc i havent let him seen her and we live out of state and i have to pay to take her back and fourth so like $600 every time

To sum it up: The FATHER of the child won't pay money, so you have decided to run off to another state and block contact with the child. That won't look good for you.

And, your math is faulty. If he's paying $25/week, then he IS paying $100+ per month.

This adoption is not going to happen, and I applaud him for his efforts to regain contact with his child.
