What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York
Closing is done, money is funded/wired, checks cut and disbursed to all parties. Can the title insurance company request an adjournment or ask to redo the closing because they need a state identification from one of the sellers tenants in common. Every one at the round table accepted the two forms of identification presented at closing (a job id and a social security) that one of the sellers produced. They checked ACRIS, signature was dead on from original mortage. Deal is done/closed. Can it be recalled/cancelled to request further Identification? Can they demand a state ID be produced after the fact? They are asking seller to rewire money back? Is this legal? Can they stop payment on disbursement of payments made? Are they required to record deed or do they have grounds to stall? Thanks

Most title companies have the parties sign a Compliance Agreement, stating that the parties AGREE to comply with correcting any errors from the closing.

[Example: after I closed on my refi, the title company advised they needed a non expired Drivers License for their fiule (i had accidentally pulled out the older one at the closing). I IMMEDIATELY corrected the problem by scanning and emailing the newer driver's license]

So, yes, the title company can require the parties to cooperate in correcting any closing errors.

nextwife, it was not an error, two forms of ID were presented and accepted by all at the round table, they evaluated the ID, verified signatures via ACRIS and everyone agreed and accepted the IDs. They are asking for additional ID after the closing and requesting seller wire funds back if it can't be produced. thanks

Do you not have another form of ID, or are you just planning on being a jerk on general principal?
