Can Anyone represent you in court i.e., a father represent
his son (17) - We have been denied this over a bogus
harrassment charge - My sons legal aid attorney can't
be there and the judge won't adjourn is forcing him
to represent himself - I always thought the barber could
represent you if you choose it's just better to have
a lawyer State of New York - small town/old judge

My response:

No. Anyone acting as an advocate for someone else in a court of law must be licensed to practice law.

And besides, what could his father do for him ? Beg and plead with the judge the same way his 17 year old would do ? If your husband doesn't know the law, or understand the law, and knows nothing about Court Rules, then what would be the purpose or advantage ?

If you've always thought you could have "the barber" represent you in court, then someone's been trimming your hair a little too close all these years.
