I live in Ohio and am about to have a baby. My boyfriend and I are no longer together because of his lack of ability to be financially responsible. So far, he has not done anything to help me out and I don't expect him to after the baby's born. Can he make me stay in the state if I put his name on the birth certificate?
I want my son to know who his father is, and he'll probably be around, just not in the way that I want him to be. But if I ever decide to move I don't want to be trapped here because of the father. To prevent this, do I have to give the baby my last name and leave the father's name off the birth certificate? And if I do that, am I giving up my rights to ask for child support?
