My car keys and car was stolen, I reported this to police and have reports, from what I have learned the person who stole the car was involved in an accident and totalled another car. The person who stole the car ran from the scene. The owner of the totalled car is suing myself and my insurance company (where I had full coverage insurance) are currently in civil court. The insurance company said they are not responsible to pay for this persons loss because they do not cover damages caused by another person other than myself. The insurance company stated that they are not liable for the actions of the person who stole the car. I was informed that I can be sued personally by the owner of the car which was totalled, is this true? If so, what are my options? I do not feel this is fair since it was not my fault.
