I have tried researching this but my efforts have failed.
(I live in North Carolina)
I have four children 3 by a man who I live with and who I was married to. I still have his last name and my three older children have his name as well.
During the time in which my ex-husband and I were not together I had a child by a another man, who is not an american citizen.
This man's name is on my child's birth certificate and my son has his last name. (Of course I never married this man.)
I would like to change my son's name. (the entire name)and use the name I have now. (my ex-husbands last name)
Do I have to have his father's permission to change his name?
