What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota
First off I had to lease this house, my tenancy (one year lease) begins August 1st 2016, I really needed a house to live in and the rental market is slim. So I signed the lease. The rental house is furnished, and I am single so I am wanting to move some of the furniture into an empty bedroom. The furniture if kinda ugly, old, dark wood.
The lease states "The Property is fully furnished. Tenants cannot move or alter any of the furnishing without the Landlords written permission." But the lease also states "Tenant shall be responsible to maintain the carpeting in a clean condition. To insure the life of the carpet and avoid excessive wear in areas, Tenant is required to periodically rearrange the furniture. "
Those two lease clauses seem a bit contradictory to me. It seems unreasonable that a renter not be allowed to e.g. move an end table from the living room to an empty bedroom. But I signed the lease. I just want to better understand what "move" means in the context of the lease. For the lease to say I can not "move" furniture, but then to also say I am supposed to "rearrange" (=move?) furniture seems contradictory. Can the landlord (Real estate property manager) truly enforce my not moving a piece of furniture from the living room to a spare bedroom?
Thank you for any advice/help.
