Arizona: I bought one of my independent contractors a vehicle, with the understanding that he would make payments to me. We have no contract. He is the vehicle owner, while I am a lienholder. Can I repo the vehicle for non payment?

A lienholder? What leads you to make that statement?
Sounds to me that all you have is an unsecured claim for the purchase price. (Not only unsecured, but undocumented.) And that would not entitle you to repossess the vehicle. It would be an act of larceny.
