My fiance let my son use his car for a period of 10 months. During that time my son purchased new tires and a battery. He was aware that he was loaned the car for work purposes until he could purchase him another car. It never seemed as if my son was ever planning to get a car of his own. My fiance called him recently and informed him that he would be taking the car back. Two days later while we were at work, my son removed the tires and left the car on bricks. Do we have any legal rights

Yes. Sue your son for the tires and/or report the theft of tires to the police.

There is no "we."

This is your fiancé's issue. It's up to him to file a police report and/or a lawsuit. It's his car.

What the heck is the matter with young people these days? Its like they have no gratitude for anything that is provided to them. A set of tires and a battery was obviously way less than fair market rent would have been for driving a car for 10 months. Heck, it was probably far less than a car payment on a car would have been for 10 months...AND, if he took the wheels too, and I bet he did, that was just plain theft.

I don't think what Shinaca's son did is indicative of "young people these days."
