My wife has been granted $200 weekly for Spousal Support. My question is can that be garnished? If so will she have to pay for legal services or just tell the judge that I'm not paying as per the court order? She lives in Ohio but filed for divorce in Arizona I live in Pittsburgh PA. If she files that I'm not paying alimony does she file with the court in which she filed or the state where she currently lives? Is it a process that will be.costly to her?

It will be a prcess that is quite possibly costly for you. First, whatever you don't pay will incur interest. If she has to take you to court, you may find that she is awarded legal fees - which you would be paying. I'll let someone else handle the jurisdictional and garnishment questions.

BTW, you realize that $200/week does not equal $800/mo, right?

So, uumm... why are you not paying what you were ordered to pay?

You're receiving SSI? SSI cannot be garnished for anything ... although SSDI certainly can.

So what's the story?
