I am in Texas.

I would like to know if someone can buy a house (take out the loan) but put the deed/title in someone else's name? Or, does their name (the person making the down payment and taking out the loan) have to be on the deed as well?

Thanks,
Char

Ask your bank. As long as they can record a valid mortgage lien on the title, I'm not sure they care.

If you are doing this to avoid foreclosure down the line, it won't work. If the bank doesn't have a path to foreclosure, they won't give you the loan.
