What is the name of your state? Florida

The buyer for our home went FHA which required him to get a statement saying the roof would last two more years. The best we could do was a statement saying the roof was in fair condition and should last 1 to 2 more years (home is 20 years old with 20 year old shingles) which the bank will not accept.

He purchased as is and we took off money for the roof. We have offered to rewrite the contract and add the roof estimate to the purchase price and have the roof redone. However the buyer want to use a licensed roofer and hire him and pay him to do the roof on our house..so the bank can close.

As long as it is a licensed roofer and has insurance what are the possible consequences to us if we allow the buyer to hire a roofer to reroof our house and he pays them directly. All other bank requirements have been met. I feel like I am missing something here.
