Used cars are not covered under the lemon law. "As is" means you take a chance when you buy it. The dealer did nothing wrong.

Sick and sad!

What do you mean the dealer didn't do anything wrong? Oh my gosh! He did too. He took this persons money and no responsibility for the condition of this car when he sold it?

What goes around comes around....

How is the dealer supposed to know that the transmission, a sealed component, would fail? How do any of the previous posters know that it wasn't the driver's fault, caused by operating the car incorrectly? Why didn't the original poster have the car inspected by an independent dealer prior to purchase?

If one does not know the meaning of "as-is" one should not be purchasing a car without someone along to explain the terminology.

As-Is means just that, the seller did nothing wrong.
