I recently received a collection notice from NCO Financial for $15,000. $10,000 of it supposedly interest. I wrote to our Attorney General and was told I would not hear from NCO again. I never heard of the company they claimed I owed. It has scared me into believing they will do this to other people too and my question is: I have a savings account through a Credit Union which I have had for about 20 years in my name only. I only have a few thousand in it which was mostly put in before I retired. After I retired I put one of my daughter's names on the account so if I died she could take the money out. (None of the money is hers) If she should have financial problems can they take my money? I get SS and a pension which go direct deposit into my checking account, but sometimes I send a personal check to the Credit Union. Thank you.

Q: If she should have financial problems can they take my money?

A: It is your daughter's money too (since you made her a co-owner); so, yes, they can take it.
