What is the name of your state? PA

I saw this on another post re: child support. Can this be done in PA?

"Quote:
Is there any other way to monitor how the money is spent to make sure the money is actually used for the child?"

"Yep. Simply make an auditing of the account a part of the child support order...."

there is your answer, it would be requested by the ncp during the child support hearing or review, it would be up to the judge to order it

Hey Z - You and I both read about this for the first time on the same post. I believe you referenced learning something new everyday.

I'd like to know if anyone has seen an audit of an account ordered in PA.

I have seen audits of child support accounts, but those don't have anything to do with how the support is used...they have to do with ensuring the accurancy of the debits in and credits in the child support account.

I have heard of one or two parents (nation wide) who were able to get a judge to order that the cp had to account for how child support was spent. However, those were in cases where the children were clearly doing without.
I have yet to see a judge order that in a case where the children were properly cared for.

JETX finds them not to be all that rare...

Thank you. This sounds like sound information. I could understand if the children weren't fed, clothed, or didn't see drs. and someone wanted to prove that money was spent on drugs/alcohol instead of rent or utilities, but to expect to audit the CS in a typical situation sounded really far fetched.

Well...perhaps they aren't in his state...or perhaps they aren't in his practice. However, in my 10+ years of talking to people on boards like these,...and talking to people out in the "world" I haven't actually run across ANYONE, who could directly say that they had an order for the CP to account to them for how the child support is spent. Those couple of cases that I heard of were third hand.

Think about it? Wouldn't we have reams of CPs coming here complaining about having to account to the NCPs about how child support is spent (and all the attendant games that parents could play towards each other) and tons of NCPs complaining that the CPs weren't obeying the order...if it were actually common?

TY 67 - again you were helpful ;)
TY LdiJ

I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with that kind of auditing. The paperwork/number counting would kill me.

$5 for school lunches, $45 for jeans, $85 for sneakers, the look on his face as he went over all the expenses and found out I spend on the child 3x what he pays in CS, PRICELESS. :)

I wonder if the trouble would be worth that look? :D

I though it was weird- like how would a cp pay the utility bill, two checks one for the rest of the household and one for the child's portion?

But it does make sense that he might see them in a higher percentage through his practice than is common, thanks

Imagine all the NCPs who would insist on Walmart sneaks only, insist you move somewhere less expensive, deny the child extracurricular activities, try to do haricuts themselves, try to control all spending that CP does, all in the name of lowering their CS.

There would be fighting 10 times... no 20 times what we see now.
