My question is rather simple. My husband was appointed a public attorney and he was found guilty. We feel that the public defender was NOT properly prepared as she only met with my husband 1 time 2 days prior to the trial. Since the conviction, she said that she has filed an appeal and a request for a sentence reduction. My question is...even though he was appointed this particular attorney, are we allowed to request another apppointed attorney to handle the future appeals, etc. as we don't have much confidence in her, and at this point, I cannot afford a private attorney. Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks!!
