Canadian qualified for TN needs advice

I am a Canadian citizen living in US on an H4 visa with my family. I am a CGA and CPA, thereby qualifying for TN status. Have been offered a limited partnership in a CPA firm. Is it acceptable to show income on Sched E under TN visa, or does it have to be employment income (ie. W2 or 1099)?
any light you can shed on this or any suggestions greatly appreciated.
