Hi
I just purchased a car off this young fellow here in Montreal Canada and upon purchase he told me the car was his, that there was no repairs to be done immediately beside rear breaks and that if there was anything to call him. I had previously tried the car and there seemed no apparent problems until i took it home. At this point i had given this fella the money and i was to sign the transaction paper and bring it to the SAQ (SAQ is our institute for anything regarding vehicles) the next day. Driving home i noticed the car bounced a lot and the suspensions seem off. The next day i noticed that the name registered to the car was not the guy who sold it but his mother which i found out later when i approached him about it. Because this seemed a bit fishy to me and because the car was not rolling smoothed i message him telling him i was going to get it inspected and that he ought to hold on to the money till than. He did not reply to this.
After the inspection i found out the entire suspension, bearing, coil, tie rod, ball join and a bunch of other things included the entire front of the frame of the car was rotten and falling apart. 2000$ plus to fix everything.
Upon giving him a call i explained to him it was not what was discussed upon purchased and that i would like my money back. From there he was a bit reluctant but i told him i'd take matters to court if he didn't. From their he suggested i'd help him sell it and i could get my money that way. And so i agreed on the condition that if he did not find a buyer buy the following week than i would like my money whether car was sold or not. He agreed to this
Later that week i approached him asking if i could have the money now as i rely on a car to get to and from work and stumbled pom a good deal. (Something i had expressed to him upon our agreement on me helping him resell the car). At this point he expressed to me that the only way i would get my money back was if he screwed someone else over and sold the car to them. Further he expressed that he was ready to go to court as he had proof that he sold me the car. I have a college degree and i have a more or less general knowledge of laws and rights. So i told him i would not deny the fact that he sold me the car but that he 1) lied to me on important details 2) that he is ready to screw someone else over. This begs the question of whether he was aware of all the repairs that were needed to be done on the car. Although he claims he didn't until i told him.
I am in a tight situation here and i can admit i did a bad move by giving him the cash before doing an inspection. I am pretty sure there is something to be done about being lied to and than openly saying he is willing to screw someone else over.
Most of this took place over text and some of it on a phone. I have provided all the info i think is necessary but can provide more if needed.
Please help?
Thank you
