I rented a car from a chain rental company a month ago. I returned the car, received a receipt and went on my way. There was no damage whatsoever to the vehicle.

Now, I get a letter demanding $1120 for "damages to the vehicle". Obviously I am not going to pay this and wondering what my options are and what I should do.

Thanks

You also need to check for damage when you first get the vehicle, to be sure they don't try to stick you with the costs for damages they were unable to get from the last 4 or 5 renters.

There was no check in form on return other than the paid receipt and no damage was noted. The vehicle was returned as I rented it....perfect.

The funny thing is, these clowns sent a demand letter with no alleged proof, no description what they claim and tacked on several hundred dollars in administration costs and loss of rental. They also included a stamped form to "authorize" credit card payment.
