What is the name of your state? ca

I am finally getting around to getting my 1997 case expunged. I went to the court house yesterday and was informed that my probation was revoked as I did not appear in court on the correct day. When I appeared two weeks later, I paid the fine and probation was reinstated. Will this be a problem for my expungement case? I really want to clear this mistake as I know I will be and have been paying for it the rest of my life, are there any other avenues I can pursue besides expungement?

Are you currently on probation or has it finally been resolved? I'm a little confused by your post ... you went to court yesterday and was advised about the probation revocation and then you appeared two weeks later and took care of it???

The options available to you depend on a number of factors including the exact charges you were convicted of and whether they were felonies or misdemeanors. Your best bet is to consult an attorney.

Expungement/pardon

There are several thousand questions on this forum similar to yours. Thus, I have prepared a standard answer.

Standard answer: Expungement is generally granted for illegal arrests or unlawful convictions. Generally, pardons mean you are forgiven for the crime but it remains on your record.

Check with the governor or attorney general of your state to see how you can go about either of these procedures. Check with the Attorney General or the President for federal expungement or pardon.

You must remember that there may be private background check companies that have past offenses on their databases; those reports will never be expunged.

Sorry I meant....

I meant I missed my court date in 1997, which is when they revoked my probation, but they reinstated once I did appear in court in two weeks later in 1997. I have successfully completed probation since then. So now it's been 8 years later and I would like to see if my case can be expunged.

Here is some general Expungement information:

http://www.uslegalforms.com/lawdigest/expungement-criminal-records-law.php/CA/CA-EXP.htm

Here is the form to fill out:

Here is a cite for more information from the courts:

Since you failed to show for a court date, if you were subsequently violated for that probation it may make you ineligible for having the record expunged. There are other conditions that may apply, so it's not worth giving up on just yet. I would still recommend an attorney.
