I've got a situation with which no one I speak to ones to help.

I just recently moved to Oklahoma from California. During my move my wallet got stolen with my CA driver's license in it. I've since gotten an Oklahoma ID card and noticed that there was a sign stating that before getting a driver's license in OK any car owned by me had to be registered in OK.

I went this afternoon to register my car and the woman told me that she would need my California driver's license which I said had been stolen. She then gave me the phone number for a driver's license station. When I called the driver's license station they told me that I couldn't get a license without my car being registered in OK. Basically, I don't physically have a license in my possession and they won't register my car without the license and I can't get a license without my car being registered. Also rather than offering any help both people told me "Well it's the law". No one was willing to help me with a solution.

I'm just wondering what the state of Oklahoma would expect me to do in this situation because I'm a spoiled Californian who usually only has to worry about going to one place when I need anything to do with my car or license!

Thanks in advance for any help.

My response:

Ladies and Gentlemen . . . here's Tony Bennett singing . . .

"I left my brain . . . in San Fran . . cisco"

It's always the simplest things that slip our minds. C'mon, you're from California!! Use your head. What are you forgetting? I'll give you 3 seconds - - tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock . . . <brrrrrrnnnnnnggggggg> Oh, I'm sorry, time's up. So, I'll have to flip all the cards over and give you the answer.

Call the California DMV and report your license as "lost" and pay the lousy $10.00 to have a new license issued and mailed to you.

Now, wasn't that simple?

Why would ANYONE actually think of leaving California for Oklahoma, let alone actually do it?

First of all, just to let you know...I came to Oklahoma with brain intact...I had already gotten my temporary license from California before this predicament. The woman at the agency told me that I needed the physical license with my picture. Actually, for anyone out there who might come across this again the woman at the tag agency was mistaken. You don't need your physical license to get registration, just your license number.

Oh, and the reason I moved is to get married. I'm only going to be here for 3 more months and yes I'm crossing off the days on the calendar!
