What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? az
i work at a nursing home, 60 yr male, certified nursing assisstant...been taking care of this resisdent for months, she gets a new room mate, and the first day i am working with the old resident, the new resident turns me into the nurse...she said i did not treat the older resident right, and did not like the way i talked to her.....i was changing brief on older lady, she has colon problem and severe diareah.....i told her i could not continue changing her with a new briefs, since she is non-stop sometimes with the diareah, but i do the best i can with her**************For some reason, the new resident did not like to hear this, and turned me in.....when i started to work with the older resisdent, the new resident had a friend there, and i asked him to leave ...i could tell they did not like this...the new resisdent might had a motivation to lie about me since i asked her friend to leave the room while changing the older resident**************.

i was sent home today....investigation.....i worked with the older resident for months, and with other roomates, and had no problem..

i am angry about this, and now i am not sure how to handle this...a lot of the times, the nursing facility will favor the resisndent, if nothing more than for the money they get..

I'll be honest - I would have reported you, too. That is not the appropriate manner to address an elderly compromised patient who has obvious issues with bowel control. What you said was completely out of line.

It's not like she's doing it on purpose.

Nothing illegal has happened.

Frankly, if I were you, I would be expecting to be fired. You may or may not qualify for UI.

(Though you won't know if you don't apply)

If you don't like your duties, you can find somewhere else to work?

i don,t mind putting briefs on someone, but i cannot be there for 4 hours, putting 30 briefs on someone ..that is the kind of problem she has

And when the resident gets a blood infection from skin breakdown from sitting around in soiled briefs, then you can get sued for it. Changing them is your job, dude. Don't like it? Find another one.

i do the best i can,,,,as i stated , the dirareah problem is bad....because of her condition...its allmost continious on at times...i work at a nurising home with 12 other residents...its very hard to spend a lot of time with her, but i usually leave the room with a clean brief on, but it probably becomes soiled 2 minutes after i leave......i do anwer her light, and change her when she wants.....the problem is with the new resident, and not understanding what is going on

Are you not reading the responses?

If you don't like your work - then leave.

So what is the lady supposed to do? She isn't doing this on purpose to annoy you. Is she just supposed to sit around in the mess until you get around to it?

you are saying i don,t like my job, i did not say that...you say that i hate changing people,,,i did not say that.....you are saying that i do not give this patient correct care, that is not true, i do what is expected with this resisdent...and do the correct things with her...i have been doing this 15 yrs, and know what to do...the older resisdent did not turn me in, its the new resident...she is misunderstanding what is going on...and you cannot tell me i am not doing my job, because i am..

I'll be honest, cbg - had I been the employer and overheard this directly, I would have fired him.

(Assuming no union/cba was involved ;) )

No, she didn't misunderstand.

She overheard you say something completely inappropriate to a compromised patient, and reported you for it.

It's that simple.

I would have done the exact same thing.

No, I am not saying any of those things. I am saying that IT IS YOUR JOB to see that she is changed as often as she needs to be changed, and if that is not happening, SOMEONE needs to report you. Good for the new resident who is apparently the ONLY one who understands the real issue here.
