What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kansas

I am on student visa F-1 here at University of Missouri Kansas City, I want to change my visa status from F-1 to J-2

I am currently studying my PhD at University of Missouri Kansas City. My visa status is now F-1. My wife has got her residency at Kansas University Medical Center and she has status of J-1 Visa. My questions are
1. Am I allowed to change my visa status from F-1 to J-2 while staying in USA.
2. What will happen to my studies ? Can I continue my studies at J-2 Visa at the same University of Missouri Kansas City

3. I have learned that on J-2 visa, I can do full time/ part time studies and also can apply for EAD and after getting EAD I can do part time/full time job also is this information correct?

Regards, Ali
