What is the name of your state?
NJ
My ex husband is now getting divorced for a second time and has informed me that he is registering our son for a public school, without my permission. I have stated in emails to him that although I am in contact with the principal of this school, due to their easter break and the ex's short notice, I have not been able to visit the school to ask questions or observe the teachers. the deadline for registration is April 1st. The ex states that he doesnt feel that I have substantive reasons for objecting to the change of school (he has not visited the school, and has only asked one other couple what their feelings are about the school and is seemingly basing his good opinion of the school on this) and that he is going to do so, anyway. We have joint custody. Our agreement states that both parents must agree to any changes before they can occur. I am a professor in educational psychology. I have many concerns about class size, and college placement for this school. He says they have good teacher retention. nice, but not enough. I want to go and see them actually teach before I agree to a change. I also have questions about before school and after school care. They do not have transportation. our current school has 100% placement. The public school placed 25 out of 103 students in colleges last year!!!! I do not feel that the schools are equal and do not wish to move my son just because the ex doesn't want to pay any more. The tuition goes up for high school this coming year by 2,000 dollars. I do nt feel that that is too much. Besides which, we already knew that when we placed him in the school 6 years ago!!! so the question is... Can my ex move our son without my permission??? What case does he have if he has changed jobs and is prob making less and paying a second wife????
Very concerned in NJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
