What is the name of your state? Alabama

I applied for change of statu from a tourist to a permanent residence through marriage at the end of June. I was required to send further information regarding the application in the middle of July but havent heard anything alse since.
Is there any way of checking applications via phone or online, or do i just have to sit and wait.???
I have also not had any contact from the BCIS regarding an employment interview? Anyone have any idea how long this process will take it seems to be taking forever.

Yes there is a way of checking. Go to the INS web site, have the number that was issued to you handy and go to the country that they're processing.

Im in NY state
I have nearly the same case. But for me I donot received any file number or file acceptance letter and just got payment receive. So some lawer advised me to call 18003755283 to ask a reference number for inquiry and then wait. Please call that number, tell them the situation and write down the reference number and wait another 30 days.
Employment permit I was being advised to wait 90 days from the original application and still blank go to that local office to insiste to get interim employment authorization. If you want to know more detail I am ready to share detail information. I would like to ask the file number they give you when you submit the application.
Note I am not lawer and just sharing my information and collection how to do for me.

You can check the status of your application if you have an alien number "A" number. It should have been given to you when you filed your application if you filed at an INS assistance center. If you filed in a field office, you will not get an "A" number. - Work Authorization....After waiting 90 days from the date you file, you can go in person to a field office and request a work authorization, based on the 90 wait period. Note: When we went through this in NYC, that office issues only 100 EAD's (employment authorization documents) per day. We had to wait on a line from midnight the night before to be one of those first 100, but we were able to get the work authorization that next day. Good luck.
