What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
my cousin recieved custody of his son when he was 11 and the mother was suppose to pay child support but never did. He took her to court twice but nothing ever came out of it. The mother lives in OK. The support order was under child support enforcement. His son just turned 18 will child support still persue the arrears? If not what should he do to persue the arrears of 12,000. I told him he should have filed a motion for contempt and to get a copy from the clerk of courts of the Family law history that states how much in arrears just in case the close the case because he is 18.

Child support arrears do not disappear when the child turns 18. If they did, no one would ever pay CS. They should still persue it...

He needs to contact the CSE as soon as possible. They can file a specific petition for an order to pay the arrears.
