My boyfriend and his ex have a daughter together. His ex is about to get married in the next few months to a man in the military. Is a step child able to receive military benefits from a step parent? If so, then wont the child have to see a doctor on base? And does the mother have to tell the father if the doctor is changed to a base doctor? He currently reimburses her every month for insurance through her employment and she has a set doctor for her. Can she just up and change that if she wants to without notifying the father? Will it be more difficult for him to obtain medical information about this since the military could be involved?

YES

NO, they can opt for PRIME or the other which I forget what its called. But they can do either.

And does the mother have to tell the father if the doctor is changed to a base doctor?

Is that a requirement of their CO?

Why would you assume that she would do this?

Make no mistake, even the military must uphold court orders. They take them very seriously. I have to ask what medical info you are so curious about? Checkups, ER visits, what? If its just for piece of mind, tell him to ask ex for an annual copy of his med records if they opt for Tricare or whatever.

The reason for asking is because the childs mother is not the most cooperative when it comes to giving information that she has to. Just to be sneaky she will take the child to a base doctor if she can for free, I mean I probably would do the same, but thats not very fair to the father. I am sure if he asked her if the child was going to receive her new husbands military benefits she would lie, just so she knew something he didnt. Does he just have to take her word for it or does he need to go through his lawyer?

If the issue means that much to you then by all means consult an atty.
