my daughter unmarried and has a child she lived with the childs father 3years.now they are in a custody battle for the child .her lawyer told her he thuoght the case was already decided about who gets custody of the child, and the case has not been to court she is a good mother .the father does not want to raise the child ,he does not want to pay child support.he is wealthy and is an only child and his mother wants his mother to raise her.my daughter lawyers assumes since this a small town the judge is already been paid off,or this is the impression he gives my daughter.
doesn't she need to find another lawyer. her lawyer has been paid in full and we have not received my advice from him.he told my daughter her choices would be to turn over the child to the father or leave town with her daughter.
hwat is your impression of a lawyer that would give this kind of advice the court date is not until july 23 2001
i say show me the proof that i am an unfit mother.but the lawyer has put the burden of proof on my daughter.he said prove you are a fit mother.state of tennessee

Merle:

I am not a lawyer but I feel sorry for you with that situation. I don't know if complaining to state authorities about corruption would do any good or if you have any proof. Probably, it's a not-so-obvious thing and hard to prove although I don't doubt it could be going on at all, knowing how things can be in a small town! Maybe try to get a lawyer from a big town to represent her, perhaps someone from Knoxville, Memphis, or Chatanooga, depending on what's closest. They might be able to challange things more easily especially if corruption is involved. If he is the father, he has to pay, and via a blood test it can easily be proven that he is the dad. Again, I am not a lawyer, and the problem sounds complicated, but, get advice from a good lawyer, I suggest, however you can. Good luck.
