What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GA

I have a permanent resident card (green card) in the USA. While applying for my permanent resident card few years back, by mistake I didn’t mention my child who was in Philippines at that time (I was under the impression that I have to mention my child name, only if that child is already in the USA). That child still lives in Philippians and never visited USA.

Now I am applying for my US citizenship. There is a column asking for my children details. If I mention my child details in it, will it create any problem to my citizenship application (because, the US immigration people may ask me why didn’t I mention that child details when applying for my green card itself?). If I do not mention my child details at least now, I may not be able to bring that child to the USA forever. Please suggest.

If I include my child details now, does USA citizenship people really check or care whether that child details were not included in my green card application at that time?

If you truly did not mention your child previously because you did not think you needed to or you misunderstood, that would be a legitimate reason and you can explain that if and when asked. At this time, you should include any and all children in your naturalization application. If you will later want to petition your children as long as you are listed on their birth certificate as a parent, there should not be any issues.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or how I can be of further assistance to you in this matter.
