state of divorce, kentucky...my ex has 7 weeks visitation each summer with our 10 year old daughter. there is no contact from him until visitation drop off and pick up arrangements need to be made. he lives in kentucky and we live in tennessee. she does not want to visit with him for seven weeks and cries and begs not to go. with this arrangement, she is denied all summer activities at home. she has asked to play sports and be involved in several summer activities with her friends and she cannot. she feels, and so do I, that it is detrimental to her to miss this. as I said, he does not contact her at all other than at visitation. she does not know him very well, as we have been divorced since she was 2 years old. visitation in the past has proven very upsetting to her and I put her in therapy last year to help her deal with it. she has called him and begged him to shorten the time. at what age can she decide not to go for that long of a time? I cannot afford to take him back to court. I have no money for an attorney. please help.

I am assuming here that you moved away from KY and therefore in some way, created this situation in the first place? At some point, you also agreed to the 7 weeks.. unless a court forced it on you?

Anyway, the only way to change this is to return to court. Until that time, anything done by you to shortern the time could result in you being taken to court for visitation interference. I suggest you research your state laws, read some books and use a paralegal to help you draw up your own papers and file them. You do not need an attorney to go to court, although it helps.
