my step-son is 16 years old and lives in california with his mother. last night he called his father and me (we live in Texas) and informed us that he does not want to come out here for his summer visitation because he wants to stay home and get a job. if he does not come for visitation, we will lose our 12% visitation and have to pay more child support. if this happens we will lose our home because we are barely making ends meet as it is. is there any way my husband can have him legally emancipated? we just want to figure out a way that his son can become a responsible young man by getting a job without my husband's ex-wife screwing us for more money. Please advise as soon as possible.
