What is the name of your state? Illinois

I married a woman who claimed that she was pregnant with me, which was a possibility. Couple of months later a child was born. The woman left me within a year of the birth and shortly after we got a divorce. I've been paying child support for eight years. Recently I found out that this child is not biologically mine and is in fact the child of my friend who died 5 years ago. I am in a stable relationship and have a new baby.
Can the child's Mother stop me from seeing "my child" who only knows me as Dad, does the child support stay the same, what are the legal changes that can happen now that we know?
Thank you,
Dad of choice

I am assuming that you mean that you recently found out that this is not your biological child, because in every other way, you are daddy. How did you discover that this child is not yours, biologically?

I found out during a medical emergency while trying to donate blood. As to the support, we agreed on an amount ourselves and it was OKed by the divorce judge.

Then you are the father legally. If you do not have a visitation order signed by a judge, then you should be at the courthouse tomorrow filing for visitation.

If you do have such an order, then you should be at the courthouse tomorrow filing a show cause for contempt of court.

Thank you for your insights. So as I understand, I am the legal father, and as such have all the rights of a parent, just because we don't share DNA my position and legal rights and responsibilities remain the same.

In your case, there is not even a possibility of biodad coming forward to petition to have his paternity established and yours disestablished.

This IS your child too! Fight for all your paternal rights.

Hon, biodad is apparently dead.
