How is child support calculated (formula) in NY state? My child stays with her mother during the week and I take her on weekends. We were never married and had an amicable break up just recently. How can I calculate what I should be paying per month and do I need a lawyer?

Child support is determined by the income of both parents, how much time NCP has with the child, and other things. Yes you need an attorney. Has the mother filed for Support yet? An attorney can tell you how much you should be paying for the child each month, but I doubt he'll tell you for free.
